Assistant Instructor – Navy Synthetic Warfighting Centre

The Role We Are Offering You

As an Assistant Instructor at the Navy Synthetic Warfighting Centre (NSWC), you will play a key role in delivering advanced tactical training and supporting synthetic warfare training events for the Royal Australian Navy. Your responsibilities will include:

• Delivering Advanced Tactical Training programs and classroom-based lessons.
• Managing simulator databases, scenario design, and execution plans.
• Configuring combat system trainers and voice communication circuits for synthetic events.
• Providing simulation support by emulating actions of aircraft and vessels in a synthetic environment.
• Assisting with system operability testing and maintaining simulation control room state boards.

Our Ideal Candidate Has:

Essential:

• Vocational or technical degree with 5–8 years of relevant experience.
• Familiarity with Naval Combat Management Systems (AEGIS and 9LV preferred).
• Strong understanding of RAN operational structure, warfighting principles, and doctrine.
• Experience with ADF operations and exercise requirements (minimum 5 years).

Desirable:

• Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
• Background in roles such as Surveillance Control Officer, Fighter Controller, Air Combat Officer, or similar Defence positions.
