Job Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Event Sous Chef to join our exceptional culinary team. The Event Sous Chef will report directly to the Executive Chef and play a critical role in executing both on-site and off-site events. This role supports the brand standards of food preparation, quality, cleanliness, and teamwork while providing leadership and coordination in event logistics and execution. The Event Sous Chef will assist in menu development and support event service from prep through breakdown.

Your Responsibilities

• Support the Executive Chef in leading the culinary team in the preparation and execution of on-site and off-site events, ensuring consistent excellence in food quality and presentation.
• Assist with planning and organizing culinary logistics for events, including transportation of equipment, ingredients, and finished goods.
• Execute event menus with attention to detail, adhering strictly to recipes, portioning, and food safety standards.
• Supervise culinary team members during events to ensure efficiency, teamwork, and high performance under pressure.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment both in-house and on location.
• Lead by example in upholding The Bastion Collection’s values, culinary vision, and standards of hospitality.
• Provide training and mentorship to line cooks, externs, and event team members.
• Assist with inventory management for events and communicate purchasing needs to the Chef team.
• Set up, execute, and break down event kitchen spaces, ensuring all equipment is accounted for and properly maintained.
• Collaborate with front-of-house and event managers to ensure seamless coordination and guest satisfaction.
• Practice and enforce proper food handling, storage, and sanitation procedures in accordance with the property's HACCP Plan.
• Step into any kitchen station or function as needed to support successful execution of events.

Your Qualifications


- Minimum of 2 years of experience in kitchen preparation and cooking, with at least 1 year in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Previous experience with catering or off-site events strongly preferred.
- Food Handlers Safety Certificate preferred.
- Michelin Star experience is a plus but not required.
- Excellent knife skills and mastery of cooking techniques including sautéing, roasting, grilling, poaching, and plating.
- Must be able to lift and transport up to 50 pounds and work on your feet for long periods (up to 10 hours).
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Must be currently authorized to work in the US.

M ust have open availability and able to work nights days and weekend. Schedule will be base on business needs.
- Candidates must live in New York or have plans to relocate in the near future.
- Valid driver’s license is a plus, but not required.
