Prototype CNC Machinist – Direct Hire

NYCOR is hiring an experienced Prototype CNC Machinist for a direct-hire opportunity in a dynamic, engineering-driven environment. Unlike traditional production machining, this role allows you to own the entire process —from programming and setup through machining and final part completion.

You’ll work closely with Engineers to support new product development, improve manufacturability, and deliver fast, high-quality prototype solutions for customers.

Near Plymouth, MN - Prototype CNC Machinist

$34–$37/hour

1st Shift | Flexible Schedules Available

Schedule Options

• 4x10: Monday–Thursday | 5:00 AM – 3:30 PM
• 5x8: Monday–Friday | 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM

What You’ll Do

• Program, set up, and operate CNC mills and lathes
• Build fixtures and tooling as needed
• Produce prototype components from print/model to finished part
• Manage your own workload using a lab scheduling system
• Collaborate with Engineering and Production Machining to provide constructive DFM feedback
• Support production machining when needed
• Adapt to shifting priorities and deadlines
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area

Qualifications

• 2+ years of technical college training in machine shop practices or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of hands-on machine shop experience (CNC mills, lathes, tool grinding)
• Ability to independently set up and program CNC mills and lathes
• Working knowledge of GD&T
• Self-motivated, proactive, results-driven attitude
• Willingness to assist with other Engineering lab work
• Ability to work on jobs with changing priorities and due dates
• Experience with alternative manufacturing methods a plus (3D printing, welding, etc.)
• Experience managing workload and reporting job progress in a scheduling system
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
