Regular Hours with OT: Enjoy a stable work schedule with the potential for overtime opportunities to boost your earnings. 40 Hour a week- Monday Thru Friday 7am-3pm. Overtime and weekend work available on a project by project basis.

Responsibilities:
Supervise and coordinate welding crews on tug and barge repair projects
Provide hands on management of projects and take direction from shipyard general manager and yard foreman
Recommend manning needs on a given project
Track and report project progress to general manager and yard foreman
Conduct welding and fitting on a given project.
Perform structural and pipe welding tasks as needed (Primarily stick but MIG, TIG, Flux-Core if applicable)
Interpret ship drawings, technical specs, and welding procedures
Ensure welds meet ABS and USCG standards as applicable
Monitor work progress, quality, and productivity
Enforce safety protocols and shipyard regulations at all times
Communicate with production managers, inspectors, and other trades
Qualifications:
5+ years welding experience in a shipyard or heavy marine environment
Prior leadership or foreman experience preferred
Proficient in various welding processes: Primarily SMAW (FCAW, GTAW, etc.)
Strong understanding of marine materials, hull structure, and fabrication techniques
Experience and understanding with proper rigging procedures
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and welding symbols
Welding certifications (ABS preferred or AWS) highly desirable
Strong work ethic, reliability, and a commitment to safety
Physical stamina and ability to perform manual labor tasks like lifting 40lb paint cans
Positive attitude and desire to be a part of a close-knit team
Ability and willingness to work outdoors year round in the elements
Effective communication and teamwork skills.
Work site is in Red Hook, Brooklyn with limited public transportation
Must have ability to get to job site daily
Bi Lingual English/Spanish (a plus)
